Structured Course Activities: Speaking practice, active listening, vocabulary development, grammar activities, role plays, reading/writing tasks, drama activities, pronunciation practice, discussion and conversation groups, informal and formal presentations and much more.
Assessment and Progress: You will be assessed regularly by your teacher and given homework to complete on a daily basis. You will receive regular progress tests on all skill areas and reports throughout your course.
Graduation: All students receive a formal certificate of attainment on completion of their course. Students who study 13 weeks or more receive a detailed end of course student report outlining their exit English level, commitment to studies, ability in speaking, listening, reading and writing, class participation and teacher comments.

This course is specifically designed for intermediate plus students who wish to improve their English skills within a business context for career purposes, further study in the area of Business and also for students preparing for the internationally recognised Cambridge BEC Exams. 

(The Business English Exams)  

This course provides an introduction to the concepts and language of today's business world and equips students with knowledge and techniques to use in business situations.  The curriculum includes the use of various textbooks and readings, a variety of structured activities, strategies and tasks, a focus on reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar, vocabulary building and presentation skills, especially designed to develop and enhance knowledge of English in the Business World and the skills to work within. Some of the subjects in this course include: Advertising, Business Correspondence, Professional Presentations and Meetings, Organizational Behaviour, Leadership, Employment and Cultures.

Assessment and Progress: Each week of this course is presented with a new business subject. Task based activities have been placed within the weekly curriculum to assess progress and communicative skills. In addition, there are weekly formal exams which include writing, listening, reading, vocabulary and grammar.  Ongoing assessment is also recorded by your teacher and  homework is given on a daily basis. You will receive grades and report throughout your course.
Graduation: Students must complete 80% of their course to receive a Certificate of Attainment. Business English students will also receive a student report with subjects covered and grades achieved.

Our surfing and bodyboarding programmes are conducted by friendly accredited professional surfing coaches from 'SURFING AUSTRALIA' Surfing Australia is the national association for the development of surfing and bodyboarding skills, beach safety, and local surfing culture in Australia .

Lessons include: surfboards, bodyboards, wetsuits, rashvests and evaluation reports. These lessons are for beginners only.

Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) 2008

If you apply for a Student Visa you must prove payment of Overseas Student Health Cover for the period of your stay. Your OSHC must be paid with your tuition fees. The Australian Government determines the insurance fees.

ENROLMENT AND REFUND POLICY TERMS AND CONDITIONS


BOOKINGS: No booking shall be accepted by Burleigh Heads Language Centre unless and until confirmed in writing by an authorised representative of Burleigh Heads Language Centre.

ENROLMENT FEE: The enrolment fee is non refundable.

CANCELLATIONS:
If you cancel your course because you have withdrawn your visa application or, your visa application is officially rejected the school must be advised in writing.  The school requires this notice within 2 weeks of the official rejection or your withdrawal.  This is the school policy unless Burleigh Heads Language Centre makes other arrangements.
                                                                            Withdrawing a visa application is not considered to be a rejection.
If you are not granted a visa all fees will be refunded to you except the enrolment fee.

If you cancel your course 28 days or more before course commencement date all fees will be refunded to you except the enrolment fee.
If you cancel your course less than 28 days before course commencement date all fees will be refunded to you except 25% of your tuition fees and the enrolment fee.
Tuition fees are non refundable after commencement of your course.
Refunds will be paid within 4 weeks after the appropriate notification has been received by Burleigh Heads Language Centre in the same currency in which the fees were received by the school. Any refund will only be paid to the person who entered into this agreement.

AIRPORT GREETING AND ACCOMMODATION FEES POLICY:
The Accommodation placement fee is non refundable unless your visa has been rejected.
The Airport pick-up fee is non refundable unless your visa is rejected, or you give the school 2 weeks written notice. If your flight plan has been changed, please give the school as much notice as possible. If you give the school less than 24 hours notice, you may be required to pay another airport pick-up fee.
Once you arrive in Australia, there is no refund on the minimum 4 week booking of Homestay. However if you are unhappy with your Homestay we will move you to your new Homestay free of charge.
If you book more than 4 weeks of Homestay accommodation and later wish to cancel, you must give at least 2 weeks notice, or a charge equal to 2 weeks accommodation will be deducted.

Burleigh Heads Language Centre reserves the right to dismiss any student who:
· Has unsatisfactory attendance without valid reason. (This will result in enrolment cancellation and immigration will be advised)
Burleigh Heads Language Centre reserves the right to dismiss any student whose:
· Conduct reflects unfavourably upon the school during their attendance.
In such cases no refund will be made.

If Burleigh Heads Language Centre cancels a course, you will be refunded all the compulsory fees that you have paid Burleigh Heads Language Centre within 2 weeks of the course cancellation.

Burleigh Heads Language Centre reserves the right to change its fees, conditions, course times, timetables at any time without notice.

Study days lost due to: late commencement of course, public holidays or absences during your course are not recoverable or refundable.

This agreement and the availability of complaints and appeals processes, does not remove the right of a student to take action under Australia's consumer protection laws. The dispute resolution processes do not circumscribe a student's right to pursue other legal remedies.
