  Accommodation

Our school has an excellent Homestay placement service with most of our Homestays within walking distance to our school and beach.  Homestay students who are placed 10 minutes or more from our school are provided with a bicycle, or are driven to and from school by their Homestay family. Our Homestay programme service includes own room and three meals per day.

 

After a Homestay booking has been confirmed, we provide the student with a profile of their Homestay family.  This profile contains; the physical address, telephone number, the family members and their occupations, a description of the home and also some of the hobbies the Homestay is interested in.  Students are placed with the most suitable Homestay available according to their requests. Students interested in living very close to the beach must enrol for homestay well in advance as homestays very close to the beach are in high demand.

We can also help students find rental accommodation.

We have a Share with an Australian programme for students who have commenced studies at our school. (conditions apply)

Airport Transfer

 

Burleigh Heads Language Centre has a variety of airport transfer services:   We provide pick-up or drop-off service, one way or return.

Telephone cards

Pre-paid telephone cards for making inexpensive overseas telephone calls are available at reception

Travel advice and assistance

Our friendly staff can advise and assist our students with any information regarding their travel plans in Australia.

 

Bank accounts

Our local Westpac bank offers our students, saving accounts without any bank fees. These accounts also have access by  teller machines.

 

Student Noticeboard

Our students have a notice board with information about accommodation, services (eg, hairdressers) for sale (eg cars, furniture etc), and employment.

 

We also have an activity noticeboard with surf school details, activities, and after school options.

   Student Employment

The Gold Coast is the most popular tourist destination in Australia.  Our students can find a wide variety of work in the hospitality industry. 90% of our current student body (August 2006) have all found employment on the Gold Coast.  Upon arrival, we help our students with the information needed for work permits, Tax File Number applications and Australian Business Number applications. Students are also assisted on day 1, with their Curriculum Vitae and advised on where and how to find a job.  Also, there is a Positions Vacant section on the Student's Noticeboard.
